Why Bruschetta Steak Crostini Works

Contrast of Textures: The crispy, golden crostini provides the perfect base to contrast with the tender, juicy steak. Add in the fresh, slightly chunky tomato bruschetta topping, and you’ve got a layered texture experience that keeps every bite exciting.

Balanced Flavor Profile: The rich, umami flavor of the steak pairs beautifully with the bright acidity of the tomatoes and balsamic. Garlic and basil add aromatics and depth, while a final touch of sea salt enhances every component without overpowering the palate.

Visually Impressive, Yet Easy to Make: These crostini look like they came out of a fancy kitchen, but they’re surprisingly simple to assemble. The vibrant reds and greens pop against the steak, making them perfect for parties, holidays, or date nights at home.

Versatile for Any Occasion: They can be served warm or at room temperature, making them ideal for entertaining. Whether it’s a casual BBQ, a holiday gathering, or a game-day spread, Bruschetta Steak Crostini brings elegance and flavor without the fuss.

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • French bread

Ingredients

Bruschetta

Prepare the Tomato Bruschetta Topping: Slice all your tomatoes in half and gently squeeze out the seeds. This is a crucial step—leaving the seeds in will result in a watery bruschetta topping.

Next, dice the tomatoes into small, even pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

Then, add the following ingredients to the bowl:

  • 2 cloves of minced garlic
  • 1 small diced shallot
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • A handful of freshly chopped basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

After that, mix everything thoroughly until well combined. Cover and place the bowl in the refrigerator to chill while you prepare the rest of the dish. This will also allow the flavors to meld beautifully.

Make The Crostini

Slice a French baguette into even rounds, about ¾ inch thick.

Bread

Afterward, place all the slices on a baking tray. Brush each side with olive oil and lightly season with salt.

Now, broil the bread in the oven until golden brown on both sides. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.

Once toasted, rub each crostini with a clove of garlic confit for an extra layer of flavor.

Grill the Steak

While the crostini cools, season your New York strip steaks generously on both sides with your favorite steak seasoning.

Seasoned Steak

Next, preheat your grill to medium heat.

Grill the steaks for a few minutes on each side until a beautiful crust forms. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

After cooking, remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for 10 minutes. This step ensures juicy, tender slices.

Assemble The Bruschetta Steak Crostini

Once the steak has rested, slice it thinly against the grain. Avoid thick slices, as they can be tougher to bite through.

Then, place a slice of steak on each crostini.

Steak spread

Top each one with a generous spoonful of the chilled bruschetta mixture.
