Why Sourdough Pull Apart Garlic Bread Works
Tangy Flavor: The sourdough adds a unique tang that elevates the classic garlic bread, creating a perfect balance between the richness of the butter and the sharpness of the dough.
Crispy and Soft Texture: Sourdough’s crust gets crispy while the inside stays soft and chewy, making each bite a delicious contrast of textures.
Perfect for Sharing: The pull-apart style makes it easy to serve and enjoy at gatherings, allowing everyone to grab a piece without cutting or mess.
Enhanced Flavor Absorption: Sourdough’s open crumb structure soaks up the garlic butter and herbs, ensuring each piece is packed with flavor.
Ingredients:
- Sourdough loaf
- 8 ounces of butter
- 6-8 cloves of garlic minced
- ½ shallot diced
- 3 tablespoons of fresh chopped parsley
- 6 ounces of shredded havarti cheese
- 6 ounces of shredded mozzarella cheese
- Marinara sauce for dipping
Cooking Process
First, slice your sourdough loaf in a criss-cross pattern, creating 2-inch (5 cm) squares. Be sure to slice ¾ of the way down—avoid cutting all the way through the bread.
In a small saucepan, melt your butter over low heat. Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic, diced shallot, and 2 tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley.
Stir the garlic butter mixture well, then carefully drizzle it down into all the slices of your sourdough. As you drizzle, gently pull apart the bread to make sure the butter reaches the bottom for maximum flavor.
Next, stuff each open slice with a generous amount of shredded mozzarella and Havarti cheese. The combination of these two cheeses will make every bite extra cheesy and delicious.
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). While the oven heats up, baste the top of your bread with any remaining garlic butter.
Place the sourdough loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes.
After 15 minutes, baste the loaf again with garlic butter, making sure to coat all sides. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the bread is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
Remove the garlic bread from the oven and serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping. Pull apart and enjoy!
This is a great appetizer for the holidays i usually serve this ahead of my Smoked Prime Rib or Smoked Turkey Breast
