Why Smoked Party Ribs Work
Quick Cooking Time: Party ribs only take 3 hours to cook and are cooked like burnt ends
Customizable Flavor Profiles: Smoking allows for a lot of creativity. You can experiment with different types of wood (like hickory, applewood, or mesquite) to impart various flavors, and you can customize the rubs and marinades to suit your taste or the preferences of your guests.
Visual Appeal: Smoked party ribs develop a beautiful bark on the outside—a dark, flavorful crust that’s visually striking and adds a textural contrast to the tender meat inside.
Nostalgic Experience: There’s something about smoked ribs that evokes memories of backyard barbecues and summer gatherings. The aroma of smoking meat wafting through the air creates an inviting atmosphere that draws people together, making smoked ribs not just a meal, but an experience.
Ingredients
- 1 rack of baby back ribs
- 3/4 cup of BBQ Sauce
- 2 tablespoons of BBQ seasoning .
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1 stick of unsalted butter

Instructions
Prepare the Ribs: First, slice each rib down the bone to create individual ribs. If you plan to peel off the membrane, do so before separating the ribs. This step ensures that the seasoning penetrates the meat fully. Next, season the ribs generously on all sides. This will give them a rich, flavorful crust once smoked.

Set Up for Smoking: Now, lay the seasoned ribs on a chicken rack. This makes it easier to move them on and off your smoker or oven. After that, set your smoker or oven to 225°F (about 107°C). Ensuring the correct temperature is crucial for even cooking.
Start Smoking: Once your smoker or oven has reached the desired temperature, place the ribs inside and smoke them for one hour. During this time, spritz the ribs with water every 30-40 minutes. This keeps the ribs moist and enhances the smoky flavor.
Flip and Continue Cooking: After the first hour, flip the ribs to the other side. Let them continue to cook for another hour. By flipping the ribs, you ensure that both sides develop a beautiful, even bark.

Develop the Bark: After two hours of smoking, your ribs should have a nice bark on them. At this point, remove the ribs from the smoker or oven and place them into an oven-safe deep dish pan or tray
Add Flavor and Braise: Next, slice your butter into pads and place them between the ribs. Then, sprinkle brown sugar and your favorite BBQ seasoning over the top. This adds a sweet, smoky glaze to the ribs. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and return it to your smoker or oven, this time increasing the temperature to 250°F (about 121°C).

Braising
Braise the Ribs: Let the ribs braise for one hour. During this time, the ribs will become incredibly tender, absorbing all the delicious flavors.
Final Touches: After one hour, your ribs should be probe tender with an internal temperature of 195-205°F (about 90-96°C).

Finally: Roll each rib in the braising liquid for an extra burst of flavor before placing them on a serving dish.
